Pier Quays is a cheap student accommodation in Medway, close to the River Medway, offering 1,106 rooms, all with private bathrooms and a choice of Studio or En-suite rooms to suit your individual needs. The flats are also ideally located for studying at the universities on the Medway campus. The apartments are surrounded by ASDA supermarkets, restaurants, and fast food, so you don't have to worry about eating. A bus stop is right underneath the accommodation for quick access to shopping centres. Students can also walk to the University of Greenwich Medway Campus.

 

Features

Pier Quays Medway has always had an ample amount of rooms. 1106 rooms contain the traditional En-suite style, the most common student bedroom in the UK, which includes a private bathroom, ensuring privacy and hygiene for students. The kitchens and living rooms shared with flatmates are natural social spaces, perfect for partying and entertaining with friends. In contrast, the Studio style is designed for students who prefer to live alone. This type of room offers a separate living space with all the features of a kitchen, bedroom and study, so students can solve any living problems.

 

The community facilities at Pier Quays student accommodation are also a highlight, helping students adapt to life in their new surroundings. The lobby's pool table and ping pong table are perfect for a friendly game with friends. The laundry room handles all your washing tasks while secure bike storage protects your property. For the academically minded, study rooms provide a quiet and comfortable environment. Finally, the courtyard is perfect for relaxing, socialising and soaking up the sun.

 

Location and What's Hot? 

The Medway accommodation, Pier Quays, is located on the north side of Gillingham, postcode ME7 1FL, close to the River Medway. A large ASDA and Lidl supermarket is a 6-minute walk from the accommodation. There are also Pizza & Grill, Subway and Domino's restaurants around to help you when you want to avoid cooking. Students can also head to Mast & Rigging and Frog & Toad as the night falls. These locally acclaimed pubs offer a cosy environment and are a great option to take the stress out of studying.

 

A 13-minute bus ride west will take you to the Dockside Shopping Outlet from Pier Quays student housing. You'll find discounts on some of your favourite high-street brands. Alternatively, why grab a bite to eat at Nando's or Pizza Hut and catch a movie at ODEON Cinema? For a more extensive shopping area, take a 25-minute bus ride to The Pentagon Shopping Centre in Chatham, a modern mall with over 70 stores, including a supermarket and high-street fashion stores.

 

Transport

The University of Greenwich is a short 8-minute bus ride or 20-minute walk to the west of the Pier Quays student apartment, and Medway Campus, the University of Kent, is also located here, an 8-minute bus ride away. For travelling to other cities, Gillingham Railway Station is a 13-minute bus ride away.

 

Security & Services

Pier Quays Student Accommodation is highly regarded because we take the safety and security of our students very seriously. We have invested heavily in the security of our flats, including a 24-hour CCTV system and access control. The front desk of the apartments ensures that outsiders are not allowed to enter. In addition, if students experience any problems or equipment damage during their stay, our professional maintenance team will quickly resolve any issues.

Cancellation Policy

No Visa No Pay

No Visa No Pay (NVNP)
a.If the student who has completed their booking has their visa application rejected, the student can provide evidence of the refusal and the booking will get cancelled with no liability.
b.For the evidence at 7(a) above to be valid it must:
i.be submitted within 7 days of the student receiving it;
ii.include the student's name and the date at which it was received;
iii.be received prior to 31 August of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in August or September;
iv.be received prior to 15 January of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in December or January.
c.Students can only cancel under 7(a) above, and under the NVNP policy, if they have applied for a visa and can evidence this. Students who haven't got a visa because they haven't applied for one are not eligible for the NVNP cancellation policy.

No Place No Pay

No Place No Pay (NPNP)
a.If the student who has completed their booking for a room is not accepted at a university in the city where they have booked a room with us, the student is able to cancel their room outside of the cooling-off period without the need for a replacement tenant provided they are able to provide evidence that they have not met the requirements for their offer or have been rejected by the university for some other reason.
b.For the evidence at 6(a) above to be valid it must:
i.be submitted within 7 days of the student receiving it;
ii.include the student's name and the date at which it was received;
iii.be received prior to 31 August of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in August or September;
iv.be received prior to 15 January of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in December or January.
c.We reserve the right to check with the university if the evidence is genuine or fake. Providing fake / photoshopped documents is forgery and is an offense punishable by law in the UK.

Refund Guarantees Time Limit

3 days to accept the offer+ 7 days cooling-off period
Once a booking is processed, the student has 3 days to accept the offer. It means for the student and the guarantor to accept the contract and pay the £250 advance rent payment. (For bookings in England only. No Advance Rent Payment is required for bookings in Scotland).

Once these steps are done, the booking is completed.
If one of the step is not completed within these 3 days, the offer will expire.
If the student still wants a room, we can re-process a booking, but we cannot guarantee that the same room or the same price will be available.
Once the booking is completed, the student has another 7 days to change their mind and cancel their booking without any reasons. This is called the cooling-off period.

Details

Making a Booking

International cancellation provisions
These additional cancellation provisions apply for any individual making a booking outside of the United Kingdom.
1.Cooling Off Period – the provisions for the Cooling Off Period set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply;
2.After the Cooling Off Period - Once the Cooling Off Period has expired the Tenant remains liable for the rent for the whole length of the tenancy unless they want to cancel with one of these 3 conditions:
-No Place No Pay: the provisions for No Place No Pay set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply, save that this option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
-No Visa No Pay:if the student doesn’t get their visa to come and study in the UK, the student must send us the visa application rejection letter within 7 days of receiving it. On receipt of the required documentation, it will be verified and, provided we are satisfied, we will cancel your Tenancy Agreement and refund any deposit or advance rent paid in full. This option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
-No ATAS certificate, No Pay: Some international students coming to the UK to study in very specific fields need to apply for an ATAS certificate. (Academic Technology Approval Scheme). If a student’s ATAS certificate application is rejected the student must send us the ATAS certificate application rejection letter within 7 days of receiving it. On receipt of the required documentation, it will be verified and, provided we are satisfied, we will cancel your Tenancy Agreement and refund any deposit or advance rent paid in full. This option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
The cancellation requests along with the proof documents must be sent by the student, from the email address they have registered their account with Unite Students and must be sent to internationalcancellations@unitestudents.com.
If an agent is involved the evidence must be sent to the agent and then forwarded on to internationalcancellations@unitestudents.com.
3. Replacement Tenants - the provisions for the Cooling Off Period set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply. Please note the point that Unite Students is under no obligation to enter into a Tenancy Agreement with any replacement Tenant that is suggested under this provision.
Passed the 31st August, the No Place No Pay and No Visa No Pay do not apply.
The student remains liable for the rent unless they find a replacement Tenant.

If you arrive on the same day but are only tens of minutes to a few hours late, you can wait at the front desk, and the staff will serve you after processing the students who have made an appointment. If you arrive on a different day, please click "Edit" in the check in summary of the Unite APP, and then choose a new check-in time that suits you. The apartment will also provide emergency contact information, which can be dialed at the entrance of the apartment or in a prominent place at the front desk. Alternatively, you can call the apartment's emergency control center (UK number) on 03003031611, and they will coordinate staff to help you.
