Goods Corner is a modern student accommodation in Edinburgh with a variety of different room types to choose from. The flats offer a wide range of lounge and study areas for students to relax and socialise. The flats are close to the KB campus, which is a 9-minute walk away. The flats offer good value for money and are conveniently located near shopping centres, supermarkets and gyms. All rooms are designed with students in mind, with large comfortable beds, ample wardrobes and private study areas. Goods Corner is the number one choice of accommodation for Edinburgh students.

 

Features

Goods Corner is a new student flat opening in 2019, with 108 beds over three floors. The flats offer 8 Studios and 1 En-suite room types, with many types and options. All rooms at Goods Corner are designed with students in mind, with comfortable beds, generous wardrobe space and private study areas. Deluxe Studio & above rooms are available for up to 2 people, with an increase of £50 per week in rent.

 

The flats have WiFi coverage in the communal areas as well as all rooms, and the communal areas also have a lounge area where students can make new friends or relax. There is also a separate self-service laundry room, which is available at an additional cost. Rent includes all costs, such as high-speed WIFI, financial insurance, water, electricity and gas.

 

Location and What's Hot?

Goods corner flats are on the south side of Edinburgh city centre, adjacent to the KB campus. There is a good range of infrastructure and amenities in the vicinity of the flats. There is a large shopping centre, Cameron Toll Shopping Centre, 4 minutes walk from the apartment, food court Comcatco, supermarket Sainsbury's, grocery shop ALDI, discount shop Poundworld Cameron Toll, bank of Scotland and ATMs. You can also go to Clerk Street for shopping, which has a variety of restaurants, supermarkets, shopping centres, malls, etc. 

 

Many parks surround the hostel in a beautiful and quiet location. There are parks nearby, such as Inch Park, Liberton FP R.F.C., Blackford Hill and Pond, etc. There are all kinds of ball clubs in the parks, so you can participate in all kinds of recreational activities after school and get to know more British friends.

 

Transport

Goods Corner Halls of Residence are close to the KB Campus, about 9 minutes away. There is a bus stop, Mid Liberton, in front of the residence halls, from which you can take buses to other Edinburgh University campuses and the city centre. The city centre can be reached in 10 minutes by bus 29 or N3, and Edinburgh Waverley, the city centre's train station, is only 15 minutes away. From the residence halls, students can reach Moray House School of Education in 21 minutes by bus, the  Edinburgh College of Arts in 20 minutes by bus, and Heriot-Watt University is 47 minutes away by bus.

 

Security and Service

Goods Corner is equipped with a 24-hour electronic access control system with video surveillance. External visitors need to pass through multiple electronic gates to enter the hostel. In addition, the hostel has an independent maintenance team.

Cancellation Policy

No Visa No Pay

Prospective international students who have applied to attend a University or a Higher Education Institution in any of the cities in which Homes for Students operates, and who book a room with Homes for Students, will be allowed to be released from their Tenancy Agreement if they do not receive the entry Visa they require for their study in the UK and evidence is provided.

Only new customers who have never lived at a Homes for Students property are eligible.

If a customer does not receive the entry Visa they require for their study in the UK and wishes to be released from their Tenancy Agreement, they must provide Homes for Students with evidence of their refusal of entry to the UK to study no later than 7 days after notification of their refusal.

Evidence can be a copy of the letter from the Home Office, UK Visas and Immigration service or other official Visa issuing body as well as a letter from the university, sponsor or institution where they were supposed to be studying. It must clearly show the student's full name, address and date of issue. This can be emailed to salesenquiries@wearehomesforstudents.com or posted to Homes for Students, 3 Clock Tower Park, Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley, Liverpool, L10 1LD.
Customers who do not apply to be released from their Tenancy Agreement within this timescale will be bound by the terms and conditions set out in the Tenancy Agreement.

No Place No Pay

Prospective first year students who have applied to attend a University or a Higher Education Institution in any of the cities in which Homes for Students operates, and who book a room with Homes for Students, will be allowed to be released from their Tenancy Agreement if, as a result of not achieving the required A-Level, Scottish Higher (or equivalent) results, they do not gain a place at their chosen university and evidence is provided.

Only new customers who have never lived at a Homes for Students property are eligible.

If a customer does not gain a place at their chosen University or College and wishes to be released from their Tenancy Agreement, they must provide Homes for Students with evidence of their rejection and evidence of the reason why (proof of results achieved etc) no later than 3 working days after their results day.

Evidence can be a written rejection letter from the University/College/UCAS, or a screen shot of the customer's UCAS status along with the results etc. This can be emailed to salesenquiries@wearehomesforstudents.com or posted to Homes for Students, Clock Tower Park, Longmoor Lane, Fazakerley, Liverpool, L10 1LD.

Customers who do not apply to be released from their Tenancy Agreement within this timescale and provide the correct evidence will be bound by the terms and conditions set out in the Tenancy Agreement.

Refund Guarantees Time Limit

7 days cooling off period
You can cancel your booking up to 7 days after you accept your offer or pay your deposit, providing you have not already moved in to the property and the apartment will refund your security deposit in full. Deposits will normally be refunded within 28 working days of cancellation, however the legal obligation as a landlord is to secure all deposits with a third party protection scheme. In the event that your deposit has already been sent to the protection scheme by the time you cancel your booking, your refund could take up to 60 days to be refunded due to the protection scheme's processing period and your deposit refund will come directly from them - you will need your repayment ID which will be sent to you directly by the protection scheme. If the deposit has already been sent to the deposit protection scheme, then the apartment is unable to influence their processing time.

2.Out of Initial Cancellation Period
If you cancel your booking after the 7 day Initial Cancellation Period, you will remain liable for the weekly rent (for each and every week or part week) until the apartment is able to re-let the room. If they are able to re-let the room they will release you from the agreement upon payment of a £50 variation of contract fee which they will recover by retaining part or all of your deposit. If you have paid a lower deposit amount, that's the amount that will be retained.

If you need to pay the rent, you can return to the homepage and click Review/Pay Statement to view the details of the payment plan. How to pay rent?

Please enter the Student Portal interface of your apartment, click Review/Pay Statement to enter the payment interface, then tick the items that need to be paid, and click pay to enter the payment interface. The apartment supports online credit card payment (credit card is supported) or bank transfer 1. For online credit card payment, please ensure that the payment card type is one of the following four types: Mastercard/Visa/Visa Debit/Visa Electron. Carefully fill in the cardholder information, and please ensure that the payment card has sufficient credit, and the bank is opened and supports payment behavior. Please note that payment cards do not need to be present in person. 2. For bank remittance, please contact the apartment to obtain the transfer account under the guidance of the consultant, and then complete the corresponding payment in the bank. However, please note that wire transfers can take several business days to arrive, so payment needs to be arranged in advance.

Is an installment purchase possible?

If you have a valid UK guarantor, you can choose to pay the rent in three installments, in September, January and April. If there is no valid UK guarantor, full rent must be paid 1 month before the start of the contract.
