Blackweir Lodge is a student accommodation in Cardiff consisting of 10 blocks. There are 410 rooms, all of which are En-suite rooms with en-suite bathrooms and communal kitchens, which is excellent for international students new to Cardiff. The flats are in a good location with beautiful views. They are within quick reach of Cardiff University, Cardiff Metropolitan University and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama via public transport. The flat block offers free WiFi, bike storage, laundry, a communal lounge, a TV corner, a table tennis table, a pool, and a study area. The maintenance team and electronic access control guarantee the safety of your stay. Rent includes utility grid and contents insurance.

 

Features

Blackweir Lodge offers two En-suite room types, all fully furnished and supplied with bedding to help you quickly adapt to life in your new surroundings. The apartment provides new modern facilities with high-speed WiFi throughout the building, and each room is furnished to the highest standards with student comfort in mind, with large bespoke bedrooms with private bathrooms and kitchens. When you've finished your studies, head to the cinema room in the communal lounge area to catch up on the news channels or watch your favourite movie. Within the flats, you will also find social and study spaces where you can work, rest and socialise without leaving the house. If you want to get some fresh air, you can cool off on the roof terrace.

 

Location and What's Hot? 

This private accommodation in Birmingham is situated in the centre of Cardiff, and there is a large supermarket, Lidl, just down the road from the halls of residence to Cardiff University, where you can purchase a variety of daily necessities. If you want to go shopping or just for fun, you can take a 9-minute bus ride to the city centre, where there is not only the Queens West Shopping Centre for daily shopping but also many banks, post offices, supermarkets and so on, which is very convenient. In addition, Cardiff University and the city centre are intersected by the famous Cardiff Castle. Cardiff is also a city with a beautiful natural environment; Bute Park, Alexandra Gardens, and Gorsedd Gardens can be reached within a 20-minute walk.

 

Transport

Cardiff University is 13 minutes by public transport from Blackweir Lodge, and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama is 6 minutes by public transport. Cardiff Metropolitan University and University of South Wales, Cardiff Campus are further away, taking 19 and 18 minutes by bus. If you want to travel to other cities, Cathays Railway Station is a 13-minute walk away.

 

Security & Services

Blackweir Lodge is always smooth when it comes to safety. The place is equipped with CCTV, an access control system and staff on duty at the front desk. Outsiders must be registered to enter the flat area. If any equipment in your room is damaged, please contact a staff member, and our professional maintenance team will fix it for you as soon as possible.

Cancellation Policy

No Visa No Pay

No Visa No Pay (NVNP)
a.If the student who has completed their booking has their visa application rejected, the student can provide evidence of the refusal and the booking will get cancelled with no liability.
b.For the evidence at 7(a) above to be valid it must:
i.be submitted within 7 days of the student receiving it;
ii.include the student's name and the date at which it was received;
iii.be received prior to 31 August of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in August or September;
iv.be received prior to 15 January of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in December or January.
c.Students can only cancel under 7(a) above, and under the NVNP policy, if they have applied for a visa and can evidence this. Students who haven't got a visa because they haven't applied for one are not eligible for the NVNP cancellation policy.

No Place No Pay

No Place No Pay (NPNP)
a.If the student who has completed their booking for a room is not accepted at a university in the city where they have booked a room with us, the student is able to cancel their room outside of the cooling-off period without the need for a replacement tenant provided they are able to provide evidence that they have not met the requirements for their offer or have been rejected by the university for some other reason.
b.For the evidence at 6(a) above to be valid it must:
i.be submitted within 7 days of the student receiving it;
ii.include the student's name and the date at which it was received;
iii.be received prior to 31 August of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in August or September;
iv.be received prior to 15 January of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in December or January.
c.We reserve the right to check with the university if the evidence is genuine or fake. Providing fake / photoshopped documents is forgery and is an offense punishable by law in the UK.

Refund Guarantees Time Limit

3 days to accept the offer+ 7 days cooling-off period
Once a booking is processed, the student has 3 days to accept the offer. It means for the student and the guarantor to accept the contract and pay the £250 advance rent payment. (For bookings in England only. No Advance Rent Payment is required for bookings in Scotland).

Once these steps are done, the booking is completed.
If one of the step is not completed within these 3 days, the offer will expire.
If the student still wants a room, we can re-process a booking, but we cannot guarantee that the same room or the same price will be available.
Once the booking is completed, the student has another 7 days to change their mind and cancel their booking without any reasons. This is called the cooling-off period.

Details

Making a Booking

International cancellation provisions
These additional cancellation provisions apply for any individual making a booking outside of the United Kingdom.
1.Cooling Off Period – the provisions for the Cooling Off Period set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply;
2.After the Cooling Off Period - Once the Cooling Off Period has expired the Tenant remains liable for the rent for the whole length of the tenancy unless they want to cancel with one of these 3 conditions:
-No Place No Pay: the provisions for No Place No Pay set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply, save that this option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
-No Visa No Pay:if the student doesn’t get their visa to come and study in the UK, the student must send us the visa application rejection letter within 7 days of receiving it. On receipt of the required documentation, it will be verified and, provided we are satisfied, we will cancel your Tenancy Agreement and refund any deposit or advance rent paid in full. This option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
-No ATAS certificate, No Pay: Some international students coming to the UK to study in very specific fields need to apply for an ATAS certificate. (Academic Technology Approval Scheme). If a student’s ATAS certificate application is rejected the student must send us the ATAS certificate application rejection letter within 7 days of receiving it. On receipt of the required documentation, it will be verified and, provided we are satisfied, we will cancel your Tenancy Agreement and refund any deposit or advance rent paid in full. This option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
The cancellation requests along with the proof documents must be sent by the student, from the email address they have registered their account with Unite Students and must be sent to internationalcancellations@unitestudents.com.
If an agent is involved the evidence must be sent to the agent and then forwarded on to internationalcancellations@unitestudents.com.
3. Replacement Tenants - the provisions for the Cooling Off Period set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply. Please note the point that Unite Students is under no obligation to enter into a Tenancy Agreement with any replacement Tenant that is suggested under this provision.
Passed the 31st August, the No Place No Pay and No Visa No Pay do not apply.
The student remains liable for the rent unless they find a replacement Tenant.
