The Bakery is a student accommodation in Cardiff that opened in 2015 with 279 beds. There are Studio rooms of 20 square metres, with a separate kitchen and bathroom and a 32" LCD TV, and En-suite rooms of 15 square metres, where you share the kitchen and living room with a flatmate. The rent includes a TV Licence and utilities, so students don't need to worry about extra expenses. Students can get to Cardiff University quickly via public transport. In addition, the flats have 24-hour security and a team of staff to ensure the safety of the students during their stay.

 

Features

The Bakery has a range of En-suite and Studio rooms available for students. The En-suites are modern in design and well-equipped with a shared kitchen and living room, private bathroom and plenty of space for study and living. Rooms are furnished with comfortable single or 4ft double beds, plenty of under-bed storage, bespoke wardrobes and more. The kitchen offers a cooker, oven, fridge, microwave etc. Studio rooms are perfect for students who prefer to live alone, with 20 square metres of private space and a separate bathroom and kitchen for the ideal living experience.

 

Free 50Mb/s broadband and WiFi are provided in all flat rooms to ensure smooth learning and entertainment. All flat rentals include utilities and personal property insurance. In addition, the laundry room and bicycle shed provide students with the most basic necessities.

 

Location and What's Hot? 

The Bakery is located on the west side of the city centre, next to the River Taff. Within 10 minutes of the flat, you can reach the UK's leading supermarkets, Marks & Spencer and Tesco, and the restaurants are Merola's, Spicy Shack and The Grill Bar & Restaurant, all of which are highly regarded local choices. To taste British pub culture with friends, head to O'Neill's St Mary Street, Peppermint Bar and Brewhouse.

 

The Bakery is perfect for student fans and is within walking distance of the Principality Stadium, the home of the Welsh Rugby Union. 15 minutes by public transport will take you to Cardiff City Stadium, the modern home of professional football club Cardiff City, which hosts matches July-May.

 

Transport

Cardiff University is a 19-minute bus ride from The Bakery. Cardiff Business School and Cardiff Metropolitan University are far away and require a 25-minute bus ride. For travelling to other cities, Cardiff Central train station is a 5-minute walk away.

 

Security & Services

The Bakery is equipped with a 24-hour electronic access control system and video surveillance system for the safety of the students. There is also a receptionist on duty to ensure that visitors are registered before entering the flats. In addition, the hostel offers a free maintenance service, where any facilities are maintained and repaired by a team of professionals.

Cancellation Policy

No Visa No Pay

No Visa No Pay (NVNP)
a.If the student who has completed their booking has their visa application rejected, the student can provide evidence of the refusal and the booking will get cancelled with no liability.
b.For the evidence at 7(a) above to be valid it must:
i.be submitted within 7 days of the student receiving it;
ii.include the student's name and the date at which it was received;
iii.be received prior to 31 August of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in August or September;
iv.be received prior to 15 January of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in December or January.
c.Students can only cancel under 7(a) above, and under the NVNP policy, if they have applied for a visa and can evidence this. Students who haven't got a visa because they haven't applied for one are not eligible for the NVNP cancellation policy.

No Place No Pay

No Place No Pay (NPNP)
a.If the student who has completed their booking for a room is not accepted at a university in the city where they have booked a room with us, the student is able to cancel their room outside of the cooling-off period without the need for a replacement tenant provided they are able to provide evidence that they have not met the requirements for their offer or have been rejected by the university for some other reason.
b.For the evidence at 6(a) above to be valid it must:
i.be submitted within 7 days of the student receiving it;
ii.include the student's name and the date at which it was received;
iii.be received prior to 31 August of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in August or September;
iv.be received prior to 15 January of the Academic Year for those with tenancies starting in December or January.
c.We reserve the right to check with the university if the evidence is genuine or fake. Providing fake / photoshopped documents is forgery and is an offense punishable by law in the UK.

Refund Guarantees Time Limit

3 days to accept the offer+ 7 days cooling-off period
Once a booking is processed, the student has 3 days to accept the offer. It means for the student and the guarantor to accept the contract and pay the £250 advance rent payment. (For bookings in England only. No Advance Rent Payment is required for bookings in Scotland).

Once these steps are done, the booking is completed.
If one of the step is not completed within these 3 days, the offer will expire.
If the student still wants a room, we can re-process a booking, but we cannot guarantee that the same room or the same price will be available.
Once the booking is completed, the student has another 7 days to change their mind and cancel their booking without any reasons. This is called the cooling-off period.

Details

Making a Booking
Once a booking is processed, the student has 3 days to accept the offer. It means for the student and the guarantor to accept the contract and pay the £250 advance rent payment. (For bookings in England only. No Advance Rent Payment is required for bookings in Scotland).

International cancellation provisions
These additional cancellation provisions apply for any individual making a booking outside of the United Kingdom.
1.Cooling Off Period – the provisions for the Cooling Off Period set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply;
2.After the Cooling Off Period - Once the Cooling Off Period has expired the Tenant remains liable for the rent for the whole length of the tenancy unless they want to cancel with one of these 3 conditions:
-No Place No Pay: the provisions for No Place No Pay set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply, save that this option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
-No Visa No Pay:if the student doesn’t get their visa to come and study in the UK, the student must send us the visa application rejection letter within 7 days of receiving it. On receipt of the required documentation, it will be verified and, provided we are satisfied, we will cancel your Tenancy Agreement and refund any deposit or advance rent paid in full. This option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
-No ATAS certificate, No Pay: Some international students coming to the UK to study in very specific fields need to apply for an ATAS certificate. (Academic Technology Approval Scheme). If a student’s ATAS certificate application is rejected the student must send us the ATAS certificate application rejection letter within 7 days of receiving it. On receipt of the required documentation, it will be verified and, provided we are satisfied, we will cancel your Tenancy Agreement and refund any deposit or advance rent paid in full. This option shall not be available after the 31st August in the year the Tenancy Start Date is due to occur.
The cancellation requests along with the proof documents must be sent by the student, from the email address they have registered their account with Unite Students and must be sent to internationalcancellations@unitestudents.com.
If an agent is involved the evidence must be sent to the agent and then forwarded on to internationalcancellations@unitestudents.com.
3. Replacement Tenants - the provisions for the Cooling Off Period set out in the main Cancellation Policy shall apply. Please note the point that Unite Students is under no obligation to enter into a Tenancy Agreement with any replacement Tenant that is suggested under this provision.
Passed the 31st August, the No Place No Pay and No Visa No Pay do not apply.
The student remains liable for the rent unless they find a replacement Tenant.
